There are always those weeks in college where you see everyone stressed out because the first week of exams are upon us. I wonder how every year all of my test fall into the same week, do teachers talk to each other and plan on how they are all going to make our lives more difficult? Or have I just hit the scholastic lottery multiple times. What ever the reason may be, the week is upon us…
College is a lot better than high school in the aspect of less busy work and more free time a few weeks at a time, but imagine having final’s week three times a semester. Since tests are worth such a big part of your grade in every class in college, a lot of work is put in to make sure that everyone is satisfied with their grades. This semester I am taking 17 units with a business stats class, finite mathematics, financial accounting, and a bio lab. Needless to say it is pretty rigorous. Today, for instance, I spent 13 hours at school either studying, doing homework, or in class. I am not trying to scare you all, I did this to myself, but it is the only thing that has really been going on in my life so I have nothing else to really talk about. EXCEPT!
I was appointed Assistant Grand Treasurer in my fraternity which I was extremely excited for! And I also have a new found love for accounting. Don’t make fun of me, but I was actually watching online lectures and practicing problems in my spare time when I didn’t have any homework. (The sports playing high school me would have slapped the college me across the face.) But isn’t that what the joy of college is? Trying new things and finally finding our niche after all the years of thinking that school is utterly pointless and that we should drop out and join the circus (just me?)
So to all of you at Stanislaus, I wish you the best of luck on this week that will come and go and be such a distant memory. High school-ers, do not fear college, in a week or so I will write a post that will be a polar opposite of this one, hopefully about my celebratory weekend including StanFest on Saturday. Adios!
