John's CSU Stan

The Spring Semester is starting and that means a lot of new and exciting things.  Fraternity business gets pretty busy around the beginning of the semester and it started with our first meeting tonight.  I was extremely surprised that I was nominated for 3 out of the 5 executive council positions in our fraternity, including scribe, treasurer, and vice president.  I was extremely happy that my brothers thoughtI was qualified for those positions, but I think I am too young for VP and I really just want to run for treasurer. I feel that treasurer would fit me the best and it is the position that I have the most passion for.  We also have rush coming up which is a fun but stressful time of the year.  It is all about expanding the Kappa Sigma name and showing what makes us a Kappa Sigma and the kind of men that we are.  A lot of the events that we hold are a lot of fun like going to a Stockton Thunder game, Dodgeball, capture the flag, and a social with two sororities called the Murder Mystery social.  The guys that we recruit can be our future brothers so we don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to recruit as many people as possible.

We also have homecoming shortly so this part of the year should be a ton of fun.  I plan on taking a lot of pictures and talking about some of the experiences that we had.  I am hopefully going to participate in the music video that we make so hopefully I will be able to post a link to the youtube video as well and give you guys a view of what the most fun part of the year is at Stanislaus.  There is also paint the town red which brings out a lot of school spirit. In college, homecoming has a lot more events and takes up a lot more time than in high school.  Also each sorority and fraternity votes on a member and the whole group helps them making videos, playing certain games, making floats, and decorating.  It is a huge deal and a Kappa Sigma candidate has won 4 years in a row and we are hoping to make it a fifth.

Lately I haven’t been doing too much.  I’ve been catching up on a lot of the sports I’ve been missing since I was without television, I watched the Heat play the Celtics today and the Lakers vs. the Thunder.  I’d like to here some of you basketball fans opinions on who you think will win the title this year.  My pick is the Heat to win this year but I think the Thunder are extremely impressive especially if Kevin Martin keeps up his high level of play.  I also watched a lot of How I Met Your Mother and have been reading No Country For Old Men.  And last, one of my housemates has a nintendo 64 and we have been playing Super Smash Brothers a lot.  So as you can see I’ve been very productive lately.  Well that is it for now, I will hopefully be posting a lot of small posts in the next few weeks about the certain events that are going on and stuff like that so stay tuned if you want to see great times!
